Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

Internal

1. Treat your guild mates with respect. If someone informs you that something you're doing is offending them, cut it out, move on to a new joke. There's enough to worry about without picking fights within the guild. Don't try to piss people off, even if you feel like they deserve it.

2. If you have a problem with a guild member, approach them about it in a civil fashion. Be polite; let them know you have a problem. If you can't do this or don't feel comfortable about it, feel free to talk to a Guild Officer about the situation. Let's not let little things build up into big things. We're all here for similar reasons and we should strive to get along. The Forums are a great venue for venting frustrations.

3. Try to stay fairly polite and politically correct in guild chat, raid chat, party chat on raids, and in Ventrilo. We really don't want people leaving, muting, or ignoring those things. If something you're saying could be offensive to someone, keep it to private channels where people can opt-out without hurting us. Not everyone here is from the same culture, the same background; try to be understanding of that. Make sure you know the company you're with will be accepting of what you're saying if it's possibly controversial.

4. Don't be racist, don't be a bigot. If you are, don't tell us about it.

5. Get thick skin. If someone makes a joke about something and you don't like it, it's not the end of the world. It's a joke. We won't be strictly controlling what's said in guild chat, we'll just ask that you try to be cool about what you say, and how you react to what you hear. If something really offends you, refer to point II.

6. Don't be an elitist. Almost everyone here is an extremely experienced player. There's no need to talk down to people; there's no reason to try to prove that you're somehow superior to others. If you have suggestions to give to people, do it in a way that isn't belittling, or wait for them to ask for help.

7. In short, just be mature and represent our guild with dignity and respect.

External

1. Be respectful to both your friends and enemies. There's no need to be immature towards PvP rivals, other guilds, or other players. The usual rule applies: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
2. Don't start drama. Don't fuel drama. If you have legitimate complaints about another guild's member, then talk to their guild officers, or talk to us to do so on their behalf. Try to keep trash talk off the realm forums.
3. No one really cares about your loot. Don't link it in General chat; don't post about it on the realm forums. It just makes people jealous, and makes you look like a jackass.
4. Be cool in pickup groups. Don't be a ninja, don't be a jerk, and don't be an elitist. A large portion of our reputation will come from outsiders' experiences with us in PuGs.
5. Don't spam general chats in instances, take it to private tells. We are raiding to kill bosses not to hang out in the start of the instance and chat.

Communication

We firmly believe that effective communication is vital for both the success of a guild and the success of our raids. Use of Ventrilo is required for all guild raids to ensure the utmost in flexibility and responsiveness. Note that Ventrilo clients are available for both Windows and Macintosh currently. We also demand that all our members have a forum account for the purposes of planning, raid scheduling and community development.

Loot
Philosphy

Loot is good, it's part of the fun of the game, it's required for progression. That said, loot is not that important. Twenty-Five fully epic-geared characters don't make a raid successful if they can't work together. One fully epic-geared player can't do anything in a raid without those 24 others. Always remember that an upgrade for you may be a better upgrade for someone else, that a piece of loot benefits you even if someone else picks it up, since it benefits the raid. Don't be greedy. Understand loot, how it benefits you, how it benefits others, and what other loot is available. It's important to have an idea what the bosses drop and what is *Actually good for you to use for your class.

Plain English version:
If you're solely in it for the loot you will get the boot.

As always, if you have issues with loot, talk to an Officer outside of raid time. We have enough going on during the raid.
